I spent a bit of time looking around for a camera and just as i was about to purchase the 400D after being impressed with the results of the 350D they brought out the Canon 450D. Which i couldnt justify the extra cost for the little improvements they added.

I cant see my manual in the dark but the picture quality is excellent and the ability to change lenses makes it a great little camera. Ive spent around $1500 on the camera so far but one of the handy extras is a a remote control which is less than $30 so you can set it up on a tripod and be in the photos at the same time as taking them. I have little negative things to say about the camera except im struggling to get an underwater case for it. The picture quality is great and its easy or as complicated to use as you want it to be since you can vary all the settings on it. Its packaged with handy software and Canon even run a course on the camera.

Ill update this post once i can get the specs in the morning. But i would highly recommend this camera although i do know Sony have released a rival camera, although maybe a bit high on price you get superior picture quality and it shows.

An update of your Canon would be very interesting. Personally i´m more & more leaning towards buying a Digital  SLR next time.

    • Great Camera and good value for money there have been conflicting opinions on the quality of the "package deal" with the 2 lenses due to the quality on the lenses. I opted for the base camera and bought the lenses seperate so i got the lenses i prefered.  Filter prices for the lenses i found in SM at less than P900 which is great value for Canon lense filters. The hand grip thats built onto the side of the camera i find comfortable to use and the weight gives it a sense of being robust but not too heavy. The multiple picture modes make it a very easy camera to use. I find the lense changeover easy to do and quick. With the lenses i currently have having two modes on each. Which give good scope for different types of photography having within even two lenses - Wide Angle, Macro, Standard lense size and a long distance lense. All varying depending on the settings of the camera which are quick and easy to change between. All in all it does everything and more that you would want with a camera with the added feature of being able to do a course with Canon to learn how to use it properly and to its maximum abilitities.

    		Digital SLR I love the camera i have, but there are other cameras within the same sort of budget with Pentax, Nikon and recently Sony have brought a new camera into the mix. All have different pros and cons to each and depending on what sort of use you want for it best to take your time and get it right first time.

    		one problem ive had with it lately is the shutter speed keeps being too slow but could just be my wifes fingers pressing the wrong buttons. After i do a reset to factory settings its fine. Big question where is the best place to pickup Canon lenses a trip to Hong Kong?

    		I came across the best places for camera equipment in Hong Kong.

    Stanley Street in Central district on Hong Kong Island seems to be where nearly all the camera shops are. Also remember to Haggle i was living in Hong Kong in the 80s and getting the best deal always involved visiting several stores and tell the owner the deal the other store is offering so he can beat it. Back then it was much better to be British than American because they knew the British were more thrifty with the wallet not sure about it now. Another location with stuff which carrys guarantees on its stock is  Cheer Power Camera and Audio which is opposite the central market and near Des Voeux Road Central junction.

    For second hand camera equipment - Champagne Court, which is located at the junction of Kimberly Road and Carnarvon Road in the district of Tsim Sha Tsui. Which is full of second hand camera stores.

    Has anyone been to these stores?
