I think there is a need for a Manila section. So I started this thread. My knowledge about the capital is limited as I have a total of 3 days there . My fascination with mega big cities, especially Asian, is overwhelming.Last edited on Sat May 26th, 2007 12:27 pm by TheSwede

TheSwede!
A lot of people say that they can´t wait to leave Manila & get out to the provinces or bypass Manila altogether but i must say i like it a lot. Still have a much exploring left of the different parts of Manila. Last year we spent some time in Makati & personally i prefer Makati to Malate/Ermita. You got all the Malls, Hotels, Restos & what not in reach & who doesnt like shopping?
TheSwede, checkout some of the reviews of different establishments in Manila

Thanks Patric! Will check out those topics just now!! It will be valuable to me as I am quite "new in town".
I remember so well, in fact like it was yesterday, my first arrival in Bangkok in 1991. My first time in Asia and I was shocked cause it was so hot and it smelled so bad and all seemed like a big mayhem! I just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible!!After that I loved Bangkok all the times I have been back.
I think Manila will be my love in terms of big cities during many years to come. I stayed in Ermita last time and will probably try Makati this time. I didnt even go to Makati last time. I explored much of Ermita/Malate, Quiapo, BinondoSanta Cruz and even Tondo last time. Crazy as I am by foot . I like to walk a lot. But in some places it is not easy to walk in cities like this. I prefer to go to poorer areas too. I want to experience all, rich and poor. I met some funny people, strange people and totally wonderful people. I must say that the nicest people I met were in Tondo!! During daytime though

| What I regret a bit is that I didnt go to the Philippines until 2005. It was very close that I went in 1994, when I was travelling around Indonesia for several months. Last edited on Sun May 27th, 2007 11:38 am by TheSwede
