Thanks Patric, that was the one that I knew of already, but a different agency is always good to have, I'll keep searching, maybe something else will pop up, my wife says it IS a nice place, that is the one hotel known in the area. We may just go with it.

Hi Kevin,
When staying in Cagayan de Oro we always use Dynasty Court in the city centre near the Divisoria and very convenient with a good restaurant in the ground floor and entertainment in the top floor during the evening.
Also if you look up Cagayan de Oro you will find hotel info there.
I will be back in Bukidnon from the end of the third week in March until the end of the third week in April.
All the best to you and Jessie.

Mike Farrell, US retired military, lives in CDO. He is on a number of the groups and lists, and used to post on the LinC Forums, but I haven't seen him post in some time, now.
He is very knowlegeable about CDO, and lives there.
If you want me to try to find him, let me know and I will. Email me directly and I will give your email address to him. I can't guarantee he will reply, but he most likely will. A damned nice guy and very helpful to others. I met him in CDO once and he helped me a lot while there.

Eye R still hear.
I grew tired of posting on most of the boards. "What's the Peso going to be worth five years from now when I retire?" Etc. Etc.
When I recognize a legitimate concern I can help with, I respond, off-line.
I have a standing offer to anyone visiting CDO for the first time. I will meet/greet you at the airport, give you a short tour of our city, recommend the hotel accomodations that fit your needs and price range, and invite you to our ex-pat get-togethers.
My fee? The first beer is on you.
Why? Because I believe that to have a friend, you must BE a friend.
Hotels that have their own websites are usually the most expensive in town. Ditto those recommended by travel agents. In CDO, the rates run from P400 per night to P3,500 per night. Reservations are seldom necessary.
Mention was made of the Dynasty Court Hotel. I would recommend it for downtown living. Room rates start at P1,200 per night. For meeting a "chat-mate"for the first time, I would recommend the Coconut Bay Resort Hotel, @P1,600 per night. For those who want to impress others with their affluence, the Marcos Hotel or Pryce Plaza Hotel would do very nicely.
For those on a tighter budget, and willing to "rough it", I can take you down, one step at a time to the P400 per night level.
I would also recommend that anyone coming to the Philippines for the first time to meet a "chat-mate" arrive a few days earlier than your expected arrival time. Perform your own recon, and meet with local ex-pats first, before you meet your "true love".
"I love you honey, send me money."
"The caribao died" is getting to be as famous as the Nigerian scams, "I am the wife of ...., I need your help in getting $100 million out of the country." Etc. Etc. Etc.
Paul. Thanks for remembering. I NEVER forget a friend.

Man, you don't realize how much I miss your posts on the LinC Forums. I hope, at some point in the future, you will post again.
Also, I have already decided that I will be returning to CDO to see you again (soon I think), as I enjoyed our conversation over pizza and beer quite a bit.

Kevin, try the Mallberry Hotel, its one of the latest in CDO within the Limektkai Mall (spelling of the hotel?) compound. It's getting popular in CDO because it's of its easier and nearer commute to the bus terminals (Bukidnon, Camiguin, Iligan, Davao, etc.) They have a website. Feedbacks from friends said that Dynasty needs to get some renovation but their restaurant is still one of the best. XAvier Estates cabanas are awesome in the uptown area, just few minutes from the airport. Try Casa Crystallia, near Xavier U (try to visit the XU Museum)and lots of descent and cheap restaurants nearby. Will ask former colleagues about Pearlmont Hotel also. I like the Gardens of Malasag, it overlooks the seascape but not an easy commute downtown.

Jim, is it you who's involved with Bethany in Talakag ? I'm sorry, I can't remember the thread. Anyway, I would like to ask if there are deaf kids in Bethany. If there are, do they attend regular classes with an interpreter ? I will appreciate info about this.
I hope to visit Bethany next time. I hate to admit this: I lived not far from Talakag, in fact Talakag jeepneys were my favorite transpo when I did my marketing at Carmen Market, but I have'nt been there !
Salamat kaayo.

Hi,
Yes I'm the one who is involved with Bethany in Talakag.
I have copied my Blog address for you.
http://journals.aol.co.uk/jcjimc/BethanyChristianHomeforChildrenT/
I do believe that there is a deaf child there at the moment but not at school as he is only 2 years old or so.
You can contact Rose or Greg Longcob for further information if you wish.
I trust this information helps you.
Kind regards.
Jim.

I second the suggestion of Mallberry Suites. I looked at about 20 hotels
in CDO before choosing Mallberry. It is clean, quiet, and brand new.
Standard rooms are P1620, and are a great value for the money.
You never need a taxi for dining or shopping because it is so close
to Limketkai, and Divasoria is just a short taxi ride away.
Reservations are recommended.

If you need information about Cagayan de Oro City, check my personal website at
http://cdoguide.com
It has enough information about accommodations/hotels (updated quarterly), tourist spots, restaurants and others.
By the way I am not a travel agent or connected with any commercial establishment. So please do not contact me for reservations.
