Hi! I am seriously interested in travelling between Sandakan on Borneo by ferry to Zamboanga in the Philippines. As far as I know, there will be a chance to get off at Tawi-Tawi islands in the Sulu archipelago, which seems very interesting to me. Jolo is another stop, but it seems to dangerous to get off the boat there. Then the boat continues to its end destination Zamboanga city. I am not scared of Zamboanga city at all. Just a bit interested to know about the Zamboanga peninsula, if it is dangerous to ride buses around there. I know this is a very hard question to answer if this dangerous travel or not. There have always been bombs here and there and it is unrest sometimes and sometimes not. Recently there has been a lot of MILF activity even as far as Iligan city and CDO. Has anyone here been travelling in these areas recently? Well, even if it was many years ago I am interested to hear about it.
I saw another thread about Zamboanga here but it was not up to date and not much info in it. The concern seems not to be the ferry ride itself. It is probably not Zamboanga city either, but areas around Zamboanga city. One option then is of course to fly out of the city to the next destination. But it would also be nice to explore some other cities around there.
