walking round in the philippines is amusing, especially if you take notice of signs.
i've seen 3 classics so far and am wondering if anyone else has some classics to share.
classic no1 was seen at a public toilet, quote, ( URINATION 1 peso, BOWEL MOVEMENT 5peso) so do they have a toilet nazi who watches you?!!!!!! also how much if you piss while your pushing out the log?????? maybe they do a deal for both.
classic no2 ( SAY NO TO FILIPINO TIME, SAY YES TO FILIPINO ON TIME) saw that outside a school in tacloban, don't think any filipino noticed it though,
classic no3 (KEEP MALAPASCUA ISLAND FREE FROM DRUGS, JUST SAY NO TO DRUGS, JAIL THE USER, SALVAGE THE PUSHER...) after reading this i came to the conclusion that if i was busted there and had a bag of weed i'd tell the cops that it's not my personal stash, actually i was gonna cut it into several pieces and sell it to all the school kids. that way i would be salvaged instead of jailed.
so if anyone out there has seen some great signs let me know coz i reckon they're great, and never fail to put a smile on my face..

Hi Welshy,
The term "salvage/salvaging" was popularized during the martial law days of the then dictator Marcos. If a person was salvaged it means that his/her dead body was found somewhere, such as a ditch or ravine, obviously brutally murdered (case never solved!). to my understanding, the sign,"...SALVAGE THE PUSHER" is to mean KILL THE PUSHER.

Yep, "salvage" came from the the phrase "salvaged body", like a corpse found floating in the river.
My favorite funny signs in the Phils:
SLOW MEN WORKING (No wonder the construction takes forever to finish!; [I think they missed the word "DOWN" and a new paragraph between "slow" and "men"]).
CAUTION: FALLING DEBRIS, PARK YOUR OWN WRIST. (didn't know I can park my wrist, I can park my butt though... howz that?)
JOFEL'S BEAUTY SALON, VHS RENTAL, and ICE 4 SALE (talk about jack of all trades)
This sign is found on a rear of a 16-wheeler truck: "WAG TUTOK, GALIT BAROK" (Don't tailgate, barok will get mad); another one I saw that made me cry with laughter: "WAG TUTOK, GALIT ELIFANT!"
Found on a city bus: "USE BUZZER WHEN STOPPED" (So, I can only use the buzzer when the bus is not moving? What if I wanna get off?" lol)
There's lots more, if I remember them I'll post them here.
Cheers.

This sign might not be hilarius but i found it quite amusing (it was standing in front of a resort swimming pool).

Sanjuanboy, you just made my day with these signs. I can't stop laughing...Anyway, I remember a few...
MANGOES FOR SALE. P1.00 PER EACH (vendor's sign in a traditional market or merkado/tiyangge).
SPECIALTY FOR THE DAY: REMEMBER ME (Found in a carenderia or streetside restaurant). I didn't know that Remember Me is a dish made from testicles of cattle! Is there anyone here who has tried it ?
Here's a few jeepneys' signs. Usually they're uniquely decorated and named.
KING OF THE ROAD Hmmmm, he drives like crazy and doesn't respect potholes!
GUAPA KA, GUAPO KO ( You're beautiful, I'm handsome) Looks like the driver is a teaser.
KATAS NANG SAUDI ( Juice of Saudi) The owner/operator of this jeepney must have worked in Saudi Arabia.

Seen on the back of a speeding trike:
"GOD HELP US"!
And the way he was driving, he needed all the assistance he could get!
Spotted on the side wall of a toilet building:
"BAWAL UMIHI DITO" (do not piss here)
Yes, some of the local guys really were too lazy to step inside and use the receptacle provided for the job.

Check out the funny signs here:

Most are from the Philippines, though one or two are from Thailand.

Some more signs I remembered seeing:
Posted inside a passenger jeep: "PULL STRING TO STOP! BUT NOT TOO HARD."
Posted on the exterior of a non-passenger jeep: "NOT FOR HIRED"
On some building's wall: "ANG UMIIHI LANG DITO AY ASO!!! ASO KA BA?"
(Only dogs urinate here! Are you a dog?)
Posted on a gate somewhere: "DO NOT ENTRY"
This is not found in the Phils, but found hanging in my friend's bathroom:
"MY AIM IS TO KEEP THIS BATHROOM CLEAN AND YOUR AIM WILL HELP."
Thought it was funny.

In Baguio, a sign outside a restaurant which read:
WANTED: BOY WAITRESS

Although it's not laugh out loud funny... I also love the signs on most of the sari sari stores which say something like: MARY STORE or ROSE STORE. Don't ask me why, but leaving out the apostrophe "s" is kind of funny looking.

I've seen a few signs around the beachfront stating "dogs are not allowed in this area". Considering the amount of stray dogs here, and that even those dogs with owners are rarely on leads, they will have to teach dogs to read before the signs have any effect!
And I saw one the other day that said "SEWER WANTED". Presumably a seamstress or tailor was required
A common mistake some local hotels make on their signboards is stating "We Served Breakfast". Oh bugger, did I miss it then?

I found this "Help Wanted" sign in a mall in BUTUAN CITY.
My wife's family didn't understand why I found the sign so interesting. I had to explain the USA laws to them.

| I saw a sign yesterday at a beauty parlour offering services such as EAR CLEANING (seriously, what kind of a dirty/lazy bugger can't be bothered to clean his own ears?) and EYE PLUCKING (?). So, should you need your eyeballs removed from their sockets just get in touch with me and I'll show you where that salon is!

Sorry I didn't get a picture of the sign I saw recently stating
"NO TRESPISSING!"
That one covers two topics at once!

Are you going to eat that, or did you just barf it up?
This little gem of a sign mural adorns the ladies toilet wall (!?) in Cocomangas Shooter Bar, Boracay.
Their pizzas are really good, but sadly you'd never know it by looking at their sign, which depicts a dog carrying what resembles a plateful of green vomit!

How detailed do the toilet instructions need to be, exactly?
"Sit properly on the toilet bowl and avoid stepping on the rim",
"Avoid spitting on the floor"
"Aim properly before urinating"
Guess the sign was counterproductive as I almost wet myself just reading it!
