Some of us are westerners not living in the Phils, visiting as often as we can...some are Filipinos living abroad...some are OFW´s abroad....

Besides from missing the Phils most of the time, i get anything from sitting in McDonalds in Sweden wishing i´d be holding a Champ burger from Jollibee in my hand.... to, just missing the sounds & smell from the streets of Manila.

What´s high on your list of stuff or places u miss ?

Well Jollibee is certainly one thing I don't miss when I'm away from the Philippines. And if I ever did, I'd just go and buy a burger from McDonalds, add 2 teaspoons of sugar to it, and too much sauce so the bread goes all soggy, sit on it and squash it, leave it to cool for 3 hours and then eat it - to get that good old Jollibee taste! ;)

But seriously, when I'm not here I miss the friendly people, the climate, and living near the beach. Oh, and the cheap SML beer! :D

One thing I miss is the year round hot weather. 4 months of cold weather here in Illinois is just too much......I hate it!  I'll take the HOT, STEAMING, Filipino summer over this frozen stuff ANY day! :D  The changes in weather and seasons here are rough on my sinuses also :(.

GIMME THE TROPICS!

Eat Bulaga????:D Oh my, I "get" to watch it everynight. I realize Filipino humor and entertainment is different than ours, but I can't take anymore of Eat Bulaga. :?

The other things that you miss, I do understand .:D

I don't know your situation there but check out the link below:

When I'm not here, I feel as though my soul is ripped in half. I feel like I can't stand to be away for another minute, as the Philippines is my home.

I miss the laid back, low-pressure lifestyle more than anything. I'm always on the go here, and I'm sure it would be different if I was a Filipino with a 9-5 job there... but to me everything just felt alot less stressful there.

My wife will tell you the same thing.

We have two properties there that we are in the process of paying off... and when those are paid for we will have more freedom to do so! In the meantime, yearly visits will have to suffice.

Both of them in Bacolod City... Rosario Heights subdivision. One a house and lot and the other an undeveloped (as of yet) vacant lot.

OK, here I go again,

We have been back here in the States now for 2 weeks.:(

There is something to be said about Filipino courtesy.:D Something GOOD! It is nice to hold a door open for someone (male or female) & receive a nice smile & sincere sounding "Thank You"! Half of the time here in the U.S., people will hardly say thank you, esp. women, they act as if you are trying to do something underhanded.

When I was in Bohol, a Filipino man was ahead of me in line at the checkout. He was short 7 pesos (pisos) or something around there. The cashier called over a supervisor so some of the items could be removed. I'm not good at Visaya, but I caught enough to know what was going on. I offered him the money, he first refused, then I insisted. The cashier Thanked me, the man Thanked me- shook my hand, slightly bowed his head and Thanked me again. Then my wife walked up, and he thanked her. The next day when I went into the store, the cashiers turned and smiled and said hello.....all of them. Then later, the man that I gave the money to, stopped my driver and told him that I was such a nice guy, and to treat me good, he told the driver the whole story.

Now I have done this sort of thing here in the States before, you know, give someone a dime or quarter if they are short....BUT NEVER IN MY LIFE DID I RECEIVE SUCH GRATITUDE and RESPECT from the recipient, and I seem to have made a new friend.....all over 10-20 U.S. cents.:)

Sure, sometimes we may get charged a little extra just because we are "JOE".....but on the other side of the coin, the respect, friendliness and courtesy that I receive while in the PHILIPPINES Far outweighs the very few bad dealings.

I miss people being genuine happy & content with their life and the ones around them! ;)

I miss the cool people in the Philippines. Of course also the climate, which I really love. Living in northern Scandinavia gives me a way too long winter! It is nice to know that I will soon go to the Philippines again now, it is only a matter of 20+ days left to departure now!!

Wonderful family picture Kevin!
