Now, why did i buy a DSLR (digital single-lens reflex camera)?
Well, got tired of the compact cameras limitations...such as way too slow starting up, too slow taking the picture & not very good at close ups...or not good enough. It can take 3 pics/second which is also good.
The Nikon D80 has auto focus in the body but not an image stabilizer....so, if you want the latter you will need that in the lens...hence the VR.
I´m really impressed with some of the few pics i´ve taken so far but also realize that an external flash is high on my to buy list of accessories (there is a jungle of accessories out there) compared to what my Canon ixus 500 can produce...not that the Canon cant produce just that it has limitations. This does´nt mean that i will get rid of my compact...not at all, i want it for when it´s not practical to bring the DSLR.
Here are a few pics of our Dogue de Bordeaux pup taken with the D80 (please have in mind that i have no clue yet of what i´m doing when it comes to taking pics with a DSLR camera...but still :. These pics are taken with the built in pop up flash.
