Geckos !
I like these small lizards a lot ! They love to eat ants & any other kind of small insects that they can find. Need i say i don´t like finding insects indoors (well, not anywhere really but especially not in my Hotel room.
Geckos are nice animals, DON´T HURT THEM ! They are not in any way interested in us, only in small tasty insects.
Here is a pic of the small type Gecko you´ll see on walls, seilings & so.

Hey Patric,
We used to live in Dumaguete, just south of the city in Banilad, Dumaguete. Anyway, near the outside lights of the apartments you would see tons of these little guys .... and a couple BIG ones. Well, it ppeared as though the little ones ate the bugs, and the big ones ate the little ones!

I love the little bastards. We had them all over Hawaii too when I was living there. I miss their rather distinct sound.

LOL. Yeah. I have to admit, I like that sound as well. When we had our little apartment in Dumaguete, we would sit outside, on the patio (was a concrete entrance and drive on the right side of the house), and sit and watch them at night, while enjoying a cold adult beverage.

What I do NOT miss however are the banana spiders... I know they were harmless, but they were creepy as hell, and bigger than my hand with my fingers spread. I imagine to the big geckos, those things were like a turkey dinner.

Hi Patric,
So far, I have been unable to find one online. I can't explain how they sound, but I will post the file as soon as I can locate one for you.

The sound they make has been equated to saying "F*#k You, F*#k You," thus the reason they have also earned that monicker.
Ran across some really colorful Geckos in the bush here, but they seem to have vanished as of late.

Patric - Are you sure you were in the PHILIPPINES? LOL!
I'm sure you heard them, you probably thought they were some sort of frog or cricket...to me they kinda sound like a cross between the two.....but not really, that's just my way to best describe them. If you heard chickens in the daytime, you heard Geckos at night.

| The little geckos make a sort of "chick chick chick" noise - not very loud. the bigger ones make a sound a bit like "gecko" or "tuko" (the local name for them). Last edited on Sun Jan 14th, 2007 10:35 am by Sirena
