As I said when I posted the photos of Duka Bay Resort, I would give a rating on it.

We stayed there in 2003.  This place is GREAT. Very relaxing. BIG ROOMS.

Do you want to get away from it all? Then this IS the place. Located in Northern Mindanao at Medina, Misamis Oriental. Setting on the Gingoog Bay & the Bohol Sea.

Duka has a wall on one side and the sea on the other. An armed guard at the gate.
There are NO phones or Televisions in the rooms. The rooms are large and were very clean. They have a restaurant to order food if you wish to eat there, the food was good, price was not bad at all.

A standard room for 2 people will run you about $45. U.S.

The people are friendly, nice and helpful.

I even met a couple of young ladies (jhing wasn't too:shock: happy) that wanted their photo taken with me. Don't get me wrong, they approached :cool:me:P, I told them to ask my wife, Jhing gave permission for the:) "photo shoot."  From that day on, Jhing has referred to them as my "fan club". The young ladies were Visayan speaking guests, the same as my lovely Jhing;):D.

Duka has Scuba Diving, boating, a picnic area, conference hall and group packages.

The only disadvantage to Duka Bay Resort is that it is "off the beaten path", unless you are going to Camiguin Island, which isn't  too far.

There is a paved highway that goes from Cagayan De Oro City to Medina. IMPORTANT: If you go, there is a little place that sits between the highway & the sea (the highway follows the shoreline) located at TALISAYAN that has great, fresh sea food at an unbelievable low price. 7 of us ate platters of rice, fish, squid, and drinks. We ate, ate and ate. total price was around $14. U.S. A very nice place to eat. Sit outside under the shade, but over the water.

All in All - It was my best stay in the Philippines! :P:D:)

Hey there,

Just a follow up on Duka Bay Resort in Medina, Misamis Oriental, Mindanao.

We stayed there again in April of this year (2007).

Our first few nights was in one of their older rooms, still not bad, but I could see some age in the bathroom.

Our last night or 2 they had to move us on down, we ended up in one of their newer rooms. It was much nicer. Again, I was impressed.

They are always working on something there, if not cleaning, it's building more rooms. The nice thing about, the work in NEVER noisey, I don't know when they do the work, but I never heard them.

As everything else in the world, their price has went up, but ont $3 or $4 a room a night, so that's not bad.

If you need a place, check them out.

Duka Bay Resort in Medina.
