The Bohol Tropics Resort in Tagbilaran Bohol !

We had the pleasure of staying at The Bohol Tropics Resort for 15 days this November.

Our room was the: "De Luxe Horizon Suite" Php 2750 a night booked & paid for in advance through Asiatravel.com.

The room was located on the "second floor" very nice & large with a real King size bed & a balcony facing the ocean overlooking the fishermen & the pier.

I got to hand it to the owners of this Resort...It shows that they really put in ALOT of money building it. Everything is very well built & has a nice design.

The Restaurant; Cafe Atanacio (in reality at the time we were there, this was the Resto that everyone used)

What i liked the most with this Resto is that Management has chosen to have Waiters (not waitresses) which in my mind is a good thing. In my experience waiters tend to be more focused & attentive then their female counterparts & the waiters at Atanacio are very good.

Now, the food overall is very good.

My tip would be; for breakfast...try the Spanish Onion Omelette!

For lunch or dinner u should also try the Salisbury steak (ground meat formed into a hamburger) , comes with choice of bread or soup & is served with veggies & a sliced up omelette but it´s VERY tasty, try it with garlic rice!

After what we experienced most of the clientele/guests at this resort are Koreans/Jap/Filipinos. Sure...there are westerners too but the majority are Asians. How this shows is stuff like how the menue in the Restaurant is composed & other details one notices when comparing this Resort with western owned/run Resorts (Bohol Tropics is Chinese/Filipino owned). Not saying it´s a bad thing...The Resort caters mainly to Asians not Westerners (The percentage of tourists to Bohol are Koreans / Jap / Americans /etc ... in that order.).

If you choose to book your tour (Tarsiers, The Chocolate Hills etc) through Bohol Tropics Resort my recommendation would be to choose Boboy Manigque;

See contact info for Boboy:

PROS:

¤ The whole Resort is very well maintained, nice & clean & the staff are helpful. There are a few real ACES (meaning very good staff members. Don´t forget to tip accordingly when u are satisfied with the service that is provided).

The overall prices for the rooms are a very good deal considering the location & the standard. Resto prices are also fair.

¤ A very convenient aspect is that the Bohol Tropics Resort has shuttles/vans that will take u (no cost) to & from the Airport or the Pier.

CONS:

¤ Trying to book directly through the The Bohol Tropics By email or Phone.... Forget it, unless u speak Tagalog.

So, what they need to do is improve their webpage either so that u can order & pay online or just redirect u to a travel agency that will do it for u. We gave up & booked & prepaid through asiatravel.com (but before we did that it took several longdistance phone calls & emails trying to communicate with Bohol Tropics...all in vain)

¤ The Atanacio has a Live Band playing almost every night from 7 pm to 11 pm which is nice & all but the thing i cant understand is this obsession with speakers & volume?!? The Bands are actually quite good but the volume is so high it turns into beeing annoying. Since we stayed at the Bohol Tropics 15 nights we avoided the Bands most nights by having dinner before 7 pm.

Conclusion:

I rate this place high cause its very clean & nice & perfect for those who are in Tagbilaran for a convention / Tours etc. It is also very reasonably priced.

Check out their site:

Hey,

Ya know, I wish everyone did a writeup like that for others. This is exactly what people look for, who haven't been to a place before.

Incidentally, Bohol Tropics is nice, isn't it?

Here is a link to one of my video pages that has a "Bohol Tour" video on it:

http://www.visayanvideos.com
Look under the "Other Areas Videos" title.

Please look at this page for a video called "Bohol Tropics":

http://www.bigjimsphilippinesexperience.com/videos1.htm
Look under the "Tagbillaran, Bohol" title.

Please Note: If anyone links to the videos, please only link to the pages and not to the videos, because we change the folder names frm time to time.

Excellent review, Patric. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Hey !

I assume you are a representative for Bohol Tropics Resort...Right?

Yeah... well,  thats the email address that i used. Disregarding the communication problems i encountered I also was informed that the only way i could pay was through a wire transfer to a bank account. This was not an option for me (was staying there 15 nights x Php 2750) & it felt more secure to go through asiatravel.com that i had done business with before (paying with my visa card).

Please understand that me & my wife really liked The Bohol Tropics Resort & the reason i pointed out the problems we had with booking directly is that i believe that when something can be improved.... it should !

Tourism to Bohol has increased every year & will continue to do so, which will benefit Bohol in many ways. I also believe that more & more westerners (tourists) will find their way to Bohol & if they are staying in Tagbilaran what better place to stay than Bohol Tropics ?

When tourism increases... so does competition.  Look what has happened in Angeles City, New Hotels  popping up everywhere. My guess is that we in time will see this happen in Bohol as well.

The thing is.... westerners will have...perhaps...others demands on establishments than your your average Korean / Jap tourist.

So my advice for improvement is simply because i like this Resort.

Cheers !
